The Hideout Grill

Specializing in hearty Western-style breakfasts, smokehouse burgers and wood-fire grilled steaks, The Hideout Grill is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We even grow our own vegetables and herbs onsite to ensure farm-to-table freshness that can’t be beat.

Meals are served in the main lodge’s Longhorn Dining Room and adjacent Copperhead Bar, both overlooking the golf course and Lake Brownwood from our scenic promontory in the heart of Central Texas Hill Country.

Richard R. Schafer

Executive Chef

The Hideout Golf Club & Resort is excited to introduce our new Executive Chef, Richard R. Schafer.

Richard comes to us with decades of Executive Chef experience at top restaurants, and private business and country clubs across the country, including Texas, Georgia, Michigan and Montana.

A Train the Trainer-certified chef, Richard’s impressive skills were honed by extensive food and wine training at the Culinary Institute of America; 3 Michelin Star Alain Chapel restaurant in Mionay, France; an advanced baking degree from the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Pinot Noir Celebration in Queensland, New Zealand; and the Court of the Sommeliers in Missoula, Montana.

Building on the great reputation established for The Hideout by his predecessor, Richard has our kitchen bursting with new energy and ideas that are rocking the taste buds of our residents, members and guests like never before.
